What do you prefer? I think my preference is fairly well known, at this level I would go with wing-backs every time. Especially as we have lost five in a row playing 4-4-2 at the end of the season.
The only doubt we have is we don't really have two perfect wing backs (but I think we have a few resonable ones). The same argument can be levied at 4-4-2, we dont have any real wingers, this is evident from the amount of crosses that come into the box during a game (altho that could be because our midfield don't feed the wingers properly, but that is another post...)

if it means i get to play as sweeper then i would say wing backs, if it is 4-4-2 and i am in centre back again then i think for me this is a position i no longer wish to play in

From the looks of the poll you voted for 4-4-2, I would have thought you would have voted for wing backs as that formation has a sweeper? Or did you vote 4-4-2 because you think that is best for the team and we are better without you? If that is the case I disagree! We missed you badly on Sunday against Dulwich when we shipped 6 crap goals!!

I saw that, that's why it confused me because I voted wing backs and there were two votes and only you and me had posted discussions. I am assuming, as there are now two votes for wing backs, that you have voted?!?
