SUNDAY 5TH MARCH 2006
AFC OLD BANK 3 BLUE FLAG 2
Alex 2, Ed 1
Man of match Alex
Wanker of week Alex
The last thing Old bank needed after last weeks disasterous double header with CDS was another tough team, a team until earlier this season historically beat us!
The line up was the best 11 available although Ed being pissed and Guy's vision impaired by several rum and cokes and a lack of contact lenses!
Alex arrived and forgot his boots. Thank god Mat had a pair of size 11 boots. (you know what they say about the size of a mans feet ladies! Mat and Alex have just disproved that theory or should i call them maggot and tiny!) Alex proclaimed himself wanker of the week!
The game kicked off and we were all over Blue flag like the proverbial rash! Chances for Mat, Aubs, Aubs, Aubs i kept thinking like Cole sooner or later he'd score. I was wrong!
13 minutes in and Mats cross saw Alex stop the ball on the six yard line with an airshot he then fell over and had the chance gone? no he swung his foot and put the ball in! He tells it he trapped the ball, had a lie down as he ahd sooo much time and then lazily put the ball in the net! 1-0 Old bank!
Great saves by Jim then kept the score at 1-0. Ash, Lee and Ian were solid. It was great to have Marsh back in the side and n commanding form!
Aubs was a revelation at left wing. Carl and Mark were playing a great supporting role.
The second half saw a slightly more sober Ed take over from the visually impaired Guy and fter another great save by Jim a great long ball to AUbs on the wing from Alex saw Aubs play Ed in for a great finish and 2-0. It should have been 6 or 7 by now the amount of chances we had.
Blue flag hit back with everything they had and on 65 minutes managed to grab one back against the run of play.
On 75 minutes Aubs had to be carried from the pitch with an ankle injury and was replaced by Bill .
Another defensive shambles allowed Blue flag to equalize from a well taken corner and it looked like we were in trouble again.
The troops ralleyed, Mat who was impressive as ever was trying every trick in the book Ed was in great form and Alex was just everywhere.
Evenyually a through ball saw alex back to goal holding the ball up on the six yard line, he tried to flick it over for Bill sending it wide of the goal and everyone thought going out of play but a header back across the box by Bill over the keeper and defenders found alex unmarked at the back to head home from close range for Old Bank to take the points!
3-2 the final result.
Mathamatically we need to beat southbank b and celts to finish with 40 points which would leave both of them on 38. If cds win all there games they could get to 40 points as well so goal difference could come in to play.
Lets just win our last two league games and do ourselves proud for this season!
right going to watch the mighty spurs beat Blackburn then going to pub for 6ish to get pissed. See you there!
