O'Neills are away this Sunday to CDS Strollers, (the team my Mitcham side beat last week).
Playing on the pitches on Hanibal Way (near Wilson's school) in Wallington/Purley. It is just off of Stafford Road. The changing rooms are at the end of Hanibal Way, and the pitch our game is on is the furthest from the changing room (better start stocking up on the enery bars Jimmy...)
10.30 ko, so someone tell Marsh to aim to be there at 6am
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't expect a walk over win, CDS are a decent side, and are quite well organised. We beat them due to our formation (wing backs) giving us an extra man in the middle of the park and an extra defender. We also switched the ball from flank to flank and kept posession well. CDS have a very good centre back, who is their captain, he is very physical and would stand up to Mark (if he plays up front). He would struggle against Pat as he seemed slow to turn and didn't like facing pacy players. They also didn't use hardly any width against us, if you stick with 4-4-2 then your full backs will be the key to the game with how they use the ball and take up space. Their keeper is ok, but it may be worth Laing taking a few long range pot shots in the first 10 mins to test him out (assuming he starts).
They played a very basic 4-4-2, but failed to use their wingers or push their full backs up until they were 2-0 down and were chasing the game.
They have a couple of lively strikers who didn't stop running and switching sides all game, but they only managed one shot one target each all game due to our (Mitcham's) 3 man back line.
This could be a good win for O'Neills, and hopefully a clean sheet for the Blob. Concentration and communication are key here.
Respond to this thread with your availability. Check back as I'll update the game details when I have them.
