I dont mean to be blaming anyone for our misfortunes, and realise I may have come on a bit strong. You have to realise I built this club from nothing, I've paid for it out of my own pocket when the finances don't add up (normally running into hundreds per year), I've taken the flak when we have been short of players, and taken the flak when people have been left out. For the last 6 years I've lived and breathed this club and always done everything I could to make it better, bigger and stronger.
This is why I get aggreived now. This is why I get stressed now, even tho I no longer play for the club. So I I have come on a bit strong, then I appologise.
As for Marshall, as well as others (and it isn't just that group, everyone has just assumed I mean them). I am not questioning their passion on the pitch. That is the easy bit. I am question the commitment to the club as a whole. The commitment to Sunday league football in general. The club rules are simple, turn up on time. Neither Bill or myself control what people do outside of football (well I do in Taff's case cos he's my bitch at work) but I would never stop anyone going out for beers etc. The problem is that at 9am on Sunday morning you all become part of my team. Those that are not at teh designated meeting point by 9.15am (or at the ground by 10am) are disrespecting their teammates, in fact they are treating their team mates, and the club with complete contempt. The same could be said about those that constantly missed texting deadlines.
I put in so much time, money and effort for the club, and wanted so little back from the players. Pay on time, turn up on time, text back on time. Thats it. We are still one of the cheapest clubs around (Mitcham's signing on fee is currently £40), we are one of only 4 clubs in our whole league with a web site, and I think the only one with maintained message boards. We also now have weekly training (thanks to Bill).
So, whats the point of this post? Why am I moaning?
I want the players to show a little respect to the management of the club. Most of you do, but there is an element that makes things difficult every week, this needs to stop. The timekeeping needs to improve and everyone needs to be at the meeting point by 9.15am latest (personally I'd make it 9am latest). Text messages need to be responded to promptly, and monies need to be paid on time, and in full. It's not much to ask really.
Like I've said elsewhere, at O'Neills we have the strongest team in the league. The top 3 went up last year, we finished 4th. No teams have come in and taken over from where Chelski Dynamoes left off, and we have improved our line up. There should be no problems, and I'm sure when everyone is pulling the same way we will rocket up the league.
